The Affiliate Summit started in New York in 2003, but the longest-running location over the years was Las Vegas. We held the Affiliate Summit West 2006 on January 8-10, 2006 in Bally’s Las Vegas.

This was the first year of fifteen straight for marketing associates to converge in Vegas shortly after the new year.

We jumped around many hotels in Las Vegas for those fifteen years – Bally’s in Rio, Wynn in Caesar’s Palace and then a long stay in Paris.

While the landscape changed from time to time, one thing was consistent and it was the great people who would come from all over the world.

We smiled, learned, drank, laughed, sang and built deeper relationships that lasted all these years.

Along the way, we also lost some friends very early on, but we have such rich memories that they will last forever.

We started these events with a few hundred attendees and as we reached the end these numbers were seven thousand. As more and more strangers joined us, we made new friends. People from around 80 countries gather at the store for discussion and fun.

It was fitting that we completed the West 2020 Partner Summit at Toby Keith’s I Love This Bar and Grill – a beautiful bubble party with all these true, important friends. That night with people there is something I will always love.

The last party of my top associates

We had a great time, didn’t we?

This year marks the end of these experiences and memories with our people… well, finally for our annual meetings in Las Vegas in January / February.

We just have to make other plans in the future to cover up and laugh and cry and make an explosion.

I think Jim Morrison said it best for our audience at the end of an era…

“I do not know what will happen, but I want to kick myself before it blows up the whole beetle.”
